Practicing pansies.
And below, first attempt in a class I'm taking on going from a subject in nature, here a branch of magnolia, into abstraction... It's hard to keep going: I just don't know what to do or add... But I guess it doesn'tatter: the idea is, I think, to be freed from representation and have fun.

Wow! Love the pansies! The abstraction is interesting but I never “get” abstraction as much as I think I should - I know the rules of composition apply but…I though maybe you could take the photo you were using (?) of the magnolias and lay it over the abstraction and then trace some of the photo over the abstracted painting and see what you get - you could then bring out the more realistic flower painting around or over the abstraction? Just a thought.
That's a great idea. Rhonda. I never know where to go with an abstraction ... I like it when they just happen accidentally!
