Portrait of Myself
(7x11) (Or, Portrait of Self with Botox: the top lip got a little too full! I have what I think of as the characteristically Irish thin upper lip. Also gave myself more flesh and fewer wrinkles.)
Oh, I almost missed this one! But reading down the Whitman poem, I see this beauty staring at me. Whether it looks exactly like you or not doesn't matter. It's a wonderful portrait - you should enter it in the david lobenberg portrait challenge for June at his site!
Now you are going to have to put up a picture of yourself for us to compare. It doesn't matter anyway - I always admired painters who do portraits because they are so difficult. Not only getting the likeness but the right skin tone. It's a lovely portrait. Jean
Attempting a self=portrait is fascinating. Is it me? What is "me"? I took some pix of myself today--in the interest of honesty--but they all came out so awful I couldn't post them (I think taking a picture of yourself with the camera held at arm's length is distorting; at least I hope so!). But I'll post one soon... I have been described (all my life) as "pixie-ish," but I'd prefer to be an "imp"--sounds much more naughty!
Really nice portraits. Walt is looking good and so are you. I painted Walt too. I couldn't resist the photo of Walt on Ruth's blog. My Walt is not as complete as yours. Really nice Laura.
I've missed a few posts suddenly! This is a beautiful self-portrait - I'll pass on the same quote that Rama Hughes at The Portrait Party gave to me..."it's the artist's prerogative to take liberties with her self-portrait" -Griffin & Sabine. Love the Whitman ones too - especially the top one.
