wren

Attempting to not overpaint. Struggled with the beak; finally had to just stop. I'll either leave it or revisit it when I've figured out how to fix it.

Maybe the beak needs to be just a touch thicker on the bottom? But love the energy of this one - when I opened the blog and saw this it really popped!

Thank you, Rhonda. That could be the fix for the beak. Sometimes it just never looks right!

You've really caught the roundness of the body - I always think of wrens as golf balls with voice boxes, small but incredibly loud. Are U.S. wrens the same? It is a lovely painting. I am enjoying seeing all your birds.

Thank you, Lisa. I see two kinds of wrens in my yard: Carolina wrens, like this one, and house wrens, which are rather plainer, maybe less round. Both very small and very loud! They're not shy, and they're just delightful.
