"Painting is an island whose shores I have skirted." --Chardin
I've just done the same thing with the darks on a portrait :/ These colours are lovely though, definitely worth another go!
I'm smiling at reading this.... we make ourselves crazy with the "too light, too dark, not enough dark". This is beautiful. Peonies , one of my favorite to (attempt) to paint.
Well doing this one again will help, I think. I think the colors are beautiful but I can’t really see what is back and what is forward in the petals. Maybe use this one as a test and, squinting to see just values, change some of them to push-pull a bit more? Anyway, I know you’ll do another and am looking forward to that one :)
Oh I love it... the variations give it life and beauty!!!
Thank you, Gwen!
I agree, Rhonda. There are some nice passages, and maybe some places where it doesn't matter, but it would help of there were more of a sense of volume
Thank you, Cathy. A good chance for me to use some reds--don't seem to use them much@
Thank you, Barbra Joan. I try, without always succeeding, to see the good stuff, as well as the things I'd like to do better!
