My goal for plein air painting 2025 is to be more painterly and to simplify, see the shapes and omit the details.
Practicing a little to try to find the zone.
And, weirdly, I've decided to take the opposite tack on daffodils (at least in this painting): less loose, more deliberate.
This is as far as I got today.

I like both ideas - the flowers and individual objects done more intricately and slowly, and the big landscapes just going with shape and color! I think both are going to be winners for you - and I love the daffs :). Do you use a view-finder or a little mat to “find” your landscape area you want to paint? That might help you narrow down things and look at just a bit of the big space. I think it’s amazing when landscape artists can just focus on a small section of all that green!
I don't use a viewfinder. But that's a great idea, Rhonda! I have a tendency to plunge in ... Want to spend more time looking before I begin painting!
This reminds me of when I tried to get rid of detail by speed painting. 10 minutes max - 2 for drawing and 8 for painting. It was great fun .... but didn't help me much with the detail. LOL.
