more apples
Getting closer, but still a way from what I want, and a long long way from approaching the apples off maybe the best apple painter in watercolor, Charles Demuth. (The best, imho, in oil is of course Cezanne!)
Charles Demuth, Still Life: Apples and Green Glass, 1925
I had a opening yesterday -- two but I could only be at one. And after all of the excitement, and wonderful talks with visitors and friends, I came home and made applesauce. I'm not domestic at all, but the time seemed right. And compared to making art it was so easy. So I love these and the timing seems perfect.
Thanks, Candy. I like that one spot of lightness on the bottom of the apple in the 2nd painting. I think I did a little lifting there, and lifting is something I very rarely think to do!
No pun intended (well, maybe a little) - but these are all delicious! I love the rough and ready look to these apples - they are not polished and perfectly round grocery store apples but those pulled off the trees and held in hands warmed by the sunshine. Gorgeous!!!

Laura, I love these - especially the really loose ones in the second photo! I like Demuth's still life - great inspiration!
Thanks, Barbara.
When I have too many apples, I like to saute them with cinnamon sugar and just snack on them. Delish
