Lest it begin to look too easy, I thought I'd post these two paintings that I've been halfheartedly dabbing away at the last couple of nights. Both are unfinished, but they're just not working for me: No doubt it's the halfhearted part that doomed them!
I'm inlcined to abandon them and move on: One of the prerogatives of watercolor painting.

I really like the first one.
Go ahead and finish them. I ruined a painting and thought 'oh what the heck' and tried some things that I would not have if it was a 'good' painting. Good learning experience.
I really like the second one and think it is worthy of finishing. As Teri said.....try some things that you would not usually do if you thought they were 'good' paintings. It is amazing what you learn this way!

I still think they're lovely, Laura. No disappointments here for me. I always love your filmy blues.
The 2nd one just needs to be finished! Not everything will work out as planned, but you learn from doing.
p.s. I really like "Underway" in previous post - great feel of standing on a boat!!!
I'm blown away by all of your boats - really.
I would like to see the second one finished too. The colors are wonderful, and you can have some fun with all that rigging :)
Finish the second--it's too lovely to let languish (pinks in sky and turquoise in boat really work).
