(4x6)A whole week of no painting! I feel guilty ... and now I'm dragging my feet about beginning again.
I just don't seem to have any energy for creativity--I don't even want to cook; I've been living on takeout and cereal. Going through a bit of a drudgery phase: working, cleaning, TCB.
I worked on this little scene from New Hampshire all week--a minute or two here and there. I think I just wanted to use orange.
Should be a quiet weekend here--the threat of rain has kept houseguests away--so I'm going to use the time to try to get back on track.

Oh no! don't feel guilty - be kind to yourself and ease back into creating, when you're ready - that splash of orange looks like pure energy to me... (it's in there somewhere, even if you're not feeling it right now!)I love the quiet, ordered little church/chapel with the dramatic flash happening around the corner - and those trees to the left of it are beautifully done.
Hi Laura, I am suffering from the same lethargy. I painted for a short while today and am hoping to post later. Last saturday I painted the entire day and ended up cutting my painting down from an 8x10 to a 4x2....ah where is the joy of life... I do a similar thing with reading. Go at it like a mad dog and then can't be bothered or rather, find excuses. I love your painting. The orange is very fall,colors are great, and I love the loose style.
This scene is just beautiful, I'm ready and anxious for orange too, how strange. I've been driving along the country roads hoping for glimpses of it, ready to photograph fall colors.
Maybe heading into the fall/winter we instinctively also slow down creatively.
Nice to see you're back. You are so industrious, I thought you might be busy or maybe sick or something. Glad to know you are not (sick) and are human! Perhaps you needed to recharge after last weekend. The orange is certainly dynamic in great contrast to the tranquil scene. Lovely painting.
PS My daughter's at college in NH, so it's lovely to catch a glimpse of their autumn!

This is GORGEOUS, Laura! Wow! The orange is a harbinger of things to come, I'll bet--not just in nature, what with autumn coming and all, but in your artwork routine. I'm predicting a long spell of productivity ;D.
