still life
8x8
A little still life.
I really did not have high hopes for this when I started it-- even though I selected the objects!
But I just kept at, for once without overworking it, I think.

This is a beautiful painting. I love everything about it. Your composition is wonderful. You have your objects extending edge to edge and intersecting in such an interesting way. I also love the colors. I especially like the touch of turquoise that you repeat so nicely. I always admire your work.
Thank you so much. I am always so uncertain about still lifes, so I appreciate this positive feedback! Years ago I took Chinese brush painting classes; we concentrated on the "four gentlemen," one of which is plum tree/blossom. My teacher would often add 3 dots of turquoise, representing lichen, on her black ink branches ... I incorporate them when I think of it for a touch of pure color.
