A special session of class with SaltyWaterArt last night: we painted from a gorgeous photo Ronna took at Sauvie Island of thousands of snow geese. (I ran out of steam at about fifty.)
We began with a few small studies to try different colors, which is a great idea, for the obvious reason but also calm down and get in the flow. In this case practicing how to paint the birds was really helpful.
But I think this small quick study is my favorite! I tried to re-create the warm yellows in my larger painting but failed.
