Sketchbook pages: mockingbird, titmouse, Baltimore oriole.
I always forget how enjoyable pencil sketching is.
What I have a harder time with is coming up with the bird's surroundings--how much to add? where? how much to simplify?
Trying to put this oriole in a wintery scene ... needs some work still.

Love the sketches and the watercolor sketch of the oriole. Just a bit of something behind it and it makes a much more interesting painting, I think. Good job! And even some muted mix of greens as a background in some would work to set the bird off, too. Perhaps look through photos of birds you have or online to see what is, actually, behind them and how it works? Good job on these and I’m looking forward to more bird paintings soon!
