chalfonte side porch

A small sketch, about 8x10, so not very detailed. But I think I might scale it up ... after practicing overhanging branches and dappled shadows.

Lovely branches and shadows, Laura.

Laura, this is so 'you'. I'd know your painting anywhere. Your very consistent if that's the word. I think what I'm trying to say is 'your style' shows through and that's something most artists strive for.

thank you, Annie, you hit upon the very two things I was most insecure about!

thank you, Barbra Joan, what a nice thing to say! when I first started painting I worried about finding my own style/ voice ... ironically, now I never think of it all, but may have found it! it's an aesop's fable!

Those shadow shapes are looking good and this is tough one to tackle - well, for me as I shy away from buildings. Good work. Are you still taking the online course or is it over?

Still taking it, Rhonda, it's a go at your own pace class.
Just finished one and hope to start another; I signed up for 2 of her classes: white flowers and flowers 2, which covers the magnolia and rhododendrons.
of course, since I'm copying Birgit's work I can't "do" anything with the finished paintings, but I am enjoying it and learning.
