As much as painting the birds, I'm enjoying trying to find a way to convey a background without doing too much or using a lot of detail.
I think this background could probably use a few more darks, but I'll leave it for now.
Ah, there he is! And a handsome fellow. I really like how pale you do your backgrounds - you put information there but not much and it doesn't detract from the bird (something I need to learn as I often spend too much time on the bg for no apparent reason!!)

The darks are in the bird and the branch. Don't do anything more. It's lovely.
Ditto the above comments. Your background is perfect as is. It is a lovely painting.
I think you got the background just about right so as not to distract from this beautifully painted bird
I love the background and everything else for that matter!
