bluejays

Above: Another go at the pair of bluejays.
Below: A bluejay I painted several months ago, before starting to try to learn the anatomy of wings. The beak is too big and curved, but otherwise, I like the head.
Liking both of these paintings but I see what you mean about the bill of the single jay - it's easy to make the bills too long, too short, too curved, too straight, whatever - and that's a big part of what type of bird they are. I've messed up a nice bird by not getting the bill right at all :( Ah, well, more practice!!!
Getting the right anatomy is key, you did a beautiful job! I love your LBB from yesterday too. It's hard to believe you didn't draw them out first! I always love your colors, your browns are very rich.

gorgeous work :) very vibrant blues. miss seeing these birds, even if they were big bullies to all the other birds at the feeders :p
Love these paintings of one of my favorite birds. Corvids right? So intelligent, and beautiful.
