the meddlesome neighbor

 (11x14)
My next-door neighbor takes it upon himself to mow the strip of grass in front of my fence whenever he thinks it needs it ... mowing down, in the process, whatever flowers happen to be growing there.
Found these casualties this morning.

No!! Why would someone do that?? It would be so much nicer if we could live far away from others. I, too, have an irksome neighbor who leaves his security light on all night long every night - which shines into my bedroom window like a spotlight :( Plus we need to rename this street Dachshund Street - there are now 5 of them on this street amongst various neighbors and I find them all to be unfriendly and very barky dogs :( Oh, well, what are you gonna do? Perhaps leave a flower guide on his doorstep so he knows what is and what isn't a flower? ;) Love this painting and sketch.

I really love this Laura. It has such a clear, clean simplicity about it that I find very pleasing and soothing. Wonderful painting, and a very touching choice of subjects!

A piece of rope or two in the garden will not damage his mower but it will bring it to a sudden stop -- not that I advocate mending walls in such a way.

You did gain the opportunity to paint these lilies . . . .

Love this,

and the roses from the last post.
Woops. We cut our neighbour's grass for them sometimes, I hope we don't hurt their flowers.

XO Barbara

Thank goodness for living with neighbours far away...on a farm! A beautiful Lilly and you have made the most of it! And now we can all enjoy it with you. Mrs A

Oh, that's a shame. Best thing to do is ask him "not to mow, but thanks for thinking of me", ought to do the trick. I like the rope suggestion. PS I love dachshunds; my advice, "the way to a dogs heart is through his stomach". Take treats in your pocket and you'll have a friend for life. LOL.

A lovely flower, but a pity it fell victim for the mower.

Hi Laura:) Maybe you should talk with the neighbor. He thinks that he is doing you a favor with mowing the grass for your fence. And if he isn't a garden lover then he doesn't think about the flowers!Your painting is beautiful!
