It's been so long, I don't know what to write ...
I've good intentions, once again, to get back on schedule with my painting (and posting).
This is a painting I did from a photo about a week ago, trying to get my darks darker, forcing myself to use more pigment and less water ...
Started another, below, but wasn't too committed. I think one difference was that, for the first one, I chose my colors before painting and mixed them on a scrap sheet, to see what I would get; for the second, I skipped this step and then found myself unsure where to go with it.

Hermosa Acuarela, feliz san valentin para ti tambien,
saludos
Beautiful work.
Eschew guilt! (about not posting for a while). After all, watercolors are about fun and play, not obligation! Nice painting!
It is beautiful.
Great come back painting.Beautiful
Happy Valentine's Day Laura - I didn't even think of it this morning when I posted! The darker tones in your top painting are beautiful, really make the lights sparkle, and lovely to see your watercolours back on my blogroll!
Love the top one and the bottom is looking good, too. Use the same pinks inside the flower? I really like how those luscious greens play against the pale pinks in the background of the top and the flower is super. I agree with Cliff - no guilt, just paint and share when you can (we'll be here). Happy Valentine's Day!
They're both stunning, Laura. You have such a powerful color sense to begin with. I have used almost translucent bits of color on this yupo I've been playing on forever, and I need to get back to normal watercolor paper and push the envelope again. Good to see you back here--I always love your work. Thanks for the kind supportive words for my sister. Means a lot. xo
Laura,.its your right to take time off.. I didn't want to be a pain by writing and asking you how you were. but oh so glad to see you. and your wonderful paintings.. hugs, BJ
This is so pretty! Such beautiful colours :0)
It has been awhile and I admit that I was worried about you, Laura. I'm glad to see you back painting and posting. I realize it may not be much coming from me, but still, I always love your watercolors and that is why I visit! This is no exception!
I love these paintings so much. And I gave one of these orchids to a friend for Valentine's Day.
Fantastic.
Happy Valentine's Day to you.
XOBarbara
Holy COW, so to speak! I'm SO pleased to see you back I could cluck and moo with pleasure! It's been MORE than worth the wait--and that goes for the orchids, too, especially the first try, which is 200% perfect as is: Georgia O'Keeffe would've caught her breath and then felt purest ENVY!
For all of us out here who've been waiting, BTW, I never thought I'd find myself quoting Emily Dickinson, but "Hope IS the thing with feathers"!!!
this is gorgeous!
wonderful freedom in the top one laura ... beautiful
