trumpet vine

                            @10×10

Even though I have many lovely flowers blooming in my yard, I have not had the desire to paint in quite a while.
I picked these sprigs of trumpet vine--I love the dark orange color--this morning and literally forced myself to make a loose sketch.
I'm not happy with it, of course!
But ... gotta start somewhere.

You’ve got a beautiful set of models in your garden for painting - maybe set up outside and paint plein aire for a while? I’m still not pleased with about 1/2 of what I do but I guess I keep doing it in hopes of getting really good some time. But I know what you mean about not feeling like painting - it’s hard to get the enthusiasm up for it but it does help to get away from everything else and just paint :).

It's a lovely, fresh and loose study, definitely recognisable. I've had the same ennui about painting lately, but always feel better once I make myself, even if it's not my best!
