supermarket tulips

(6x8)
Supermarket tulips. Painted sitting down (above) and standing (below). I'm determined to someday figure out how to paint tulips, and their leaves, which give me even more trouble.

(7x10)

Hoping the bouquet will hold up for a few more days, at least, to give me more chance to practice.

 Magnolia buds: coming attractions.

Your painting is nicer than the flowers themselves. They are lovely tulips!

I think you may have a mental block about leaves - like I do with landscapes = so much green!!! But I really like the top one and think it's elegant and nicely done. Can't wait to see you paint in person at the workshop :)

So fresh and pretty! I look forward to the magnolias too!

I've never seen really interesting tulip leaves, either in person or in a painting. When I cut tulips for a vase, I nearly always leave the leaves behind, and sometimes add other foliage. So: it's not YOU, it's the flower. Long solid green stripes - not inspirational at all! I have the same problem with iris leaves.
