past love to mania

Two more, one on hot press, the other on cold.

Time to abandon the daffodils; the lilacs are in bloom!

The Fist
by Derek Walcott

The fist clenched round my heart
loosens a little, and I gasp
brightness; but it tightens
again. When have I ever not loved
the pain of love? But this has moved

past love to mania. This has the strong
clench of the madman, this is
gripping the ledge of unreason, before
plunging howling into the abyss.

Hold hard then, heart. This way at least you live.

Hi Laura, the words that come to mind are fun, happy, and bursting with colors. I like how the painting is cropped on the blog roll, no white with just a touch of the blue vase and a look of very abstracted shapes. See what you think.

That vase...just amazing, Laura!! I haven't seen lilacs here yet but they are my favorite of all the flowers! Gorgeous paintings!

Hmmm.... noticeable difference in the hp and the cold press papers. I need to try hot press. Never worked with it.. . have some in my wc paper stash... guess it's as good a time as any to give it a try!

Beautiful paintings!!

The top one is my favorite - it seems more assured, bolder, stronger colors and I like the cropping, making the flowers seem to be bursting out of the picture plane. Great poem, too. Lilacs are starting to bloom here, too - my favorite flowers.
