(5x7)

(5x7)

Done early this morning with watercolor pencils from the stern of the boat. I smudged the pencil with dew from the gunnels, which worked out well, I thought, because it kept me from using too much water and losing all the pencil lines.

It's not often that I read that someone is using the dew from the gunnels to wet her/his water color pencils! Nice combo of colors.

I agree with Don - that image of using dew for the watercolor pencils is priceless. It seems that you have a new creative surge since your trip. I love those grapes you posted and your commentary on them. Well I love more than that but I like to comment on the work that really moves me. Best!

Thanks Don and Bill.
Reaching for the beads of water on the gunnel was an inspiration of sorts, though it earned me some dubious look from Peter when he saw the dirtied water on the gunnel.
The colors are bright! watercolor pencils tend to be unnaturally bright, and, for me at least, don't really encourage mixing; and, I was wearing my sunglasses!
I wish I had had my painting kit with me when we went back later in the day: there was a very high tide and the light was so soft!

Wow - with watercolor pencils! These are so loose and free.

The bottom piece is beautiful! I love your use of colors. I can't believe you were able to do that with sunglasses on!
