I love the setup. So simple and such harmonious colors. 

I could have gone back in and refined some of the areas that were too wet before, like the surface of the liquid. But I usually don't go back.

Discovered a series of videos on YouTube: quick watercolor birds with Tom Shepherd. He's got a wonderfully bright and free (the freedom born of knowing what you're doing!) way of painting. I painted along ... It wasn't easy. But I think it's definitely worth trying again.

This was painted with, for the most part-- except for the greens, 3 colors: aureolin, quinacridone red, and Prussian blue.

I think it is at the stage now where I'll switch over to watercolor paper.

I used my Winsor&Newton Payne's gray, but Lois used Cotman, W&N's student grade Payne's gray, which has the lovely property of separating out into different blues ang grays. Definitely going to pick some up

My attempt to paint one of my white amaryllis... I see so many colors in it, but it doesn't read well.

The last 3 days' growth of my red amaryllis.

The white one is fully open and quite statuesque. I can't imagine trying to paint it!

My first amaryllis to open this year was a white one.

Practiced on some multimedia paper.

Below is the one I've started on watercolor paper ... It looks very careful. Maybe I'll try to bring the feel of the others to this one.
