Wanted to have another go at the jug, to try to get the ellipse at the mouth right ... "Try" being the operative word.
Also painted on a pre-colored ground, this time intentionally, but somehow it just doesn't have the glow of the first (below). Maybe because, overall, it's cooler; also, the edges of the pitcher are harder, less lost.

ReplyDeleteBut why oh why whenever we try to repaint a subject there is usually something that is lost.. Your right about the glow, but it's still such a beauty..

I must admit I really like both milk jugs. The two paintings just give a different feel and impression of the still life. I think both are beautiful!
