  4. This is beautiful! I'm a beginner but loving the medium. Could explain how you did your background? Did you do it first or after the bird? what color did you use...very nice chilly feeling!

      In this case I did the background first.
      I put down a wet, light wash of cobalt and cerulean blue, adding light touches of permanent rose and raw sienna.
      I waited a bit till it was not satirated, but still wet, then, with the paper flat, sprinkled it with table salt.
      Let it all completely dry, then brush off salt.
      Hope this helps.
