I'm smiling at reading this.... we make ourselves crazy with the "too light, too dark, not enough dark". This is beautiful. Peonies , one of my favorite to (attempt) to paint.
Well doing this one again will help, I think. I think the colors are beautiful but I can’t really see what is back and what is forward in the petals. Maybe use this one as a test and, squinting to see just values, change some of them to push-pull a bit more? Anyway, I know you’ll do another and am looking forward to that one :)
I agree, Rhonda. There are some nice passages, and maybe some places where it doesn't matter, but it would help of there were more of a sense of volume
I've just done the same thing with the darks on a portrait :/ These colours are lovely though, definitely worth another go!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Cathy. A good chance for me to use some reds--don't seem to use them much@

ReplyDeleteThank you, Barbra Joan. I try, without always succeeding, to see the good stuff, as well as the things I'd like to do better!
