(6x8)
From a photo I took of a couple lunching at Gecko's in Cape May. I did a little painting of the outside in June. I liked the overlapping white chairs.More of my WIP: I'm glad I stopped and photographed it because I think it's gotten a little too red-violet. Planning to add a few details and gray down the purples in a few of the surrounding grapes.
Great composition!I love how the chairs work together and the colors surrounding them. Beautiful washes on the grapes, the ladybug is a great addition!
ReplyDeleteThe compositions of the chairs is really great, Laura! And I love the little ladybug on the grapes!
ReplyDeleteI never tire of your paintings. Your drawing I always great but what I love most is the color;they are so rich and your ratio of water to paint is always great.I wonder if you use fresh from the tube paints every time you paint?
ReplyDeleteThank you, Cathy: I feel I always struggle with the water-paint ratio--I think it's one of the hardest things to get right!
ReplyDeleteI don't use freshly-squeezed paints; I have my paints in a palette, which I spritz with water about 5 minutes before painting, and when I'm not using it, I keep it covered.
Love the scene and the grapes, and the ladybug. Seeing the ladybug made me miss summer so much! I love that bug. It is a good one because it eats the aphids that eat the flowers.
ReplyDeleteLovely.
