Painted this today from a photo Shelby took one day when we were out painting with Charles Reid. Shelby and I were still in thr throes of our Ted Nuttall workshop and, while Charles demonstrated, took a lot of pictures of our fellow students (on the sly).
I worked on this intermittently this morning in between little bursts of cleaning out the garage, very gingerly, on the lookout for crickets.

Very nicely done - fresh, clean colors blending, letting the paint do its thing without forcing it - good job!!
I thought i loved your landscapes, now i am finding your portraits so interesting. You are so on top of this a minute away from where you want to be...yes?
Your portrait work leaves no doubt as to your diversity... what can I say Laura ,, "I JUST LOVE YOUR PAINTINGS" ok there I said it...
Your portraits show Nuttall's influence--his layers of paint were so delicate and light, weren't they? Yet he built them up wonderfully. This is delightful, Laura!
wow... hope i can do half as well after my workshop, with him.... seeing your wonderful results are so exciting!! really nice fresh loose portrait.. also see some chas reid effects..
Hi Laura,
I love everything you've been doing. What now? Please keep doing the superb watercolours you've been doing all along. You are so amazingly good.
Great painting.

I love the way you've caught that shadow on her face. A really great portrait. And to paint with Charles Reid - you guys over there don't know how lucky you are!!
Hey Laura, look at my blog roll at the watercolorings blog. I don't think you have that blog on your roll. Anyway, she did a different sort of a portrait using photoshop and fluid acrylics and watercolor. See what you think:)
'est un portrait très réussi, plein de naturel et de vie, bravo!
She looks so cool under that hat. You've captured the light very well.
Very nice, I love it! Vicki
You have such a talent for portraits. They show your mastery at bringing the subjects alive and making them interesting. This is a particularly nice one. Love the subtle use of shadow.
