The problem, for me, with working in stages instead of rushing through to completion in one sitting is that I beging to lose heart: I get timid; every new thing seems like a mistake ...
This is very nearly done, but I think I'll wait until tomorrow and then attack it early in the day, before I have time to wring my hands.

Just love your explanation of things Laura. I usually do it all in one sitting,, while also wringing my hands . This is looking very good, you worry too much. Just do it! It's gonna be good.
ReplyDeleteLaura this is lovely, I would rather do it at once and know just what you mean..trust your heart ... it's beautiful the way you paint...Diana
ReplyDeleteMy art teacher had a work robe where it was written: Before you ask any question - Go Darker!
ReplyDeleteI think your painting has already achieved a good contrast. I would only wish for few details on the ship on the left side from the viewer. Other than that this seems to be very complete fresh painting. Thank you Laura, Irina
Laura, you sound like me. That said, this is another beautiful boat/ship painting. You do the rust on the boats gorgeously!
ReplyDeletelove the way you play around with water. nice painting
ReplyDeleteThis painting is coming along great....
ReplyDeleteI think this is done, as is. I know exactly what you mean, though - anything that takes over an hour or two and I do tend to lose the impetus that made me want to paint it - I think it's a flaw in my character, always wanting to rush and finish and do instead of savoring the process? Your work never looks like there is a hesitant stroke or a misplaced color...I don't know how you do it. You seem to be able to leave just enough for the viewer's participation and that's what I'm aiming for in my own work.
