I bought some bristol board awhile back and had put it in my pile for the Salvation Army, never having tried it (it's got a very slick surface; kind of like Yupo, with which so many are currently enamoured). It's a light card-stock weight and I thought a piece might serve as a folio for my Drawing Day sketches.
Maybe this'll be the back cover, and I'll do one with many more more cherries for the front ...

Laura, you have been so productive, I can't keep up! The bayfront sketches are lovely in themselves, and will make great future paintings. I love the single cherry for a back cover, too, very effective. I sympathize about the Yupo-like paper... I feel guilty every time I take out a sheet of Arches and see the Yupo languishing next to them, but I just can't bring myself to try it again just yet. I know some people do wonderful things with it, but to me it seems unresponsive. Anyway, I love seeing what you do with different themes and materials!
The boat scenes are great, I look forward to seeing them painted. Yes, that single cherry is very sweet. I just love white space.
I agree with Mineke - you are on fire - I like the single cherry - but I LOVE your last post of the four cherries! I am reminded of a a famous (at least in Japan) of Mu Ch'i, who painted a celebrated picture of six persimmons. Simple means, yet everything in it's place. Simple work - nothing left to chance. What a feat! Best
