memorial day weekend

 8x5

For the last week, whenever I took a break from my hideous workload, I was out in the yard weeding and putting down mulch. I got 3 cubic yards delivered last Monday and have been working away at it for a couple of hours a day ... Down to, I think, about another 3-4 hours till I run out: should've got 4 cubic yards though as one side of the yard isn't going to get mulched. Just as well--it needs a lot more work.
The summer people have arrived here at the Jersey shore. They don't really bother me--except for the noise, and the traffic, and the lines at the supermarket ... other than that, no problem!
Since the winds have finally dies down a bit, instead of mulching this a.m. I decided to take a bike ride.
Took a little painting kit and made this quick sketch of a scene along my route.

This is what my Sansa does when she wants me to pet her: jumps into her box and shows me her belly.

Your summers sound like our winters in SW Florida! Plus we have over packed restaurants, doctor's offices and hospitals. Your kitty is adorable, and I love your spontaneous painting!

Those darn summer residents lol, I know exactly what you mean! Your sketch painting is lovely and such a nice way to unwind after all that work, I would gladly scratch that kitties belly, she’s a charmer!

Beautiful painting and adorable cat. I think we are those summer people.
We have our own school house in Nova Scotia. But have not noticed
line ups when we go in mid to late August. I'm sure it is different where
you are. We are almost always alone at the beach.

Have a great Monday, still the weekend for you I think. Our long weekend was last week.

XOXOXOXOXOXO Barbara

It gets insanely crowded here; it can be pretty awful.
Hope someday to visit NS and PEI too!

What a lovely little watercolor! Sansa is a doll!

Thank you, Candy.
Sansa is kind of standoffish, but I've been working on her for two years and I think she's beginning to like me!

Your area sounds a lot like the coastal village we moved from 3 years ago.. when summer arrived it turned into a very different place. Your kitty is adorable and your painting, so soft and romantic... love it
