house sparrow

(5x7)
Another subject I'd like explore more: birds, And especially "lbb"--little brown birds, which are so numerous around my feeders. And because there is so much to learn about browns and grays.

What a beautiful little bird. The colours are spot on.

Funnily enough I use a house sparrow as a teaching tool in my drawing class as their little round bodies and distinct markings make easier drawing subjects.

Lovely! I like how the branch fades off into the snowy background on the left side. Yes, so many browns and greys this time of year to explore. I, too, want to paint more birds.

I love your sparrow, Laura! The darks and the contrasts are very beautiful, something that I find difficult to do.

Beautiful bird Laura - looks like the sparrows that visit my feeders as well. Hope you have a beautiful New Year.

I'm really loving your snow series in these last posts! I like how you sprinkle the snow over the scene with just the right amount to accent without overwhelming. Very nicely done. The colors in the lbb piece are exquisite, too! I hope we do get to see more bird paintings soon!

Such a beautiful little painting, Laura. Did you mix your own browns and black?
