"ice"

(6x9)
I think there used to be a little dock here; my dad may have kept his boat there years ago ... During the boom these little places were being torn down and replaced by condos; condos that are now, in the bust, mostly empty.
Damp, humid weather continues here: not conducive to watercolor painting ... Perhaps it's a good time to start a sketchbook.

this is beautiful and it's sad to hear they are replaced by empty, probally ugly buildings that have no personality, unlike there old timers. I guess we can't save everything in life but at least you saved it in a painting.

That's a beautiful painting! I think we've had the same hot, muggy weather here, too. A sketchbook sounds great to me. I agree that your painting makes this place sort of immortal--it looks like a stunning location the way you depicted it!

Hi Laura, I like this, sort of haunting,or maybe it's more thinking about the Boom and Bust. Crazy isn't it,things changed so quickly.
Maybe that's a good thing, less condo's and clasic old homes left intact.

Laura, first I want to thank you for your comment to me. I'm not sure why, but it just touched me this morning when I read it. Maybe knowing that I don't walk through troubled times alone. (i.e., I need to step outside myself at times!) I think this is beautiful! Sometimes I truly think progress isn't progress at all and your words just prove it true. Wouldn't it be cool to own this house by the water? To have your own dock? The trees and forests in which to roam and play? Beautiful painting capturing a lost moment in time.

Lots of air, fresh and pieceful. I love the reflection in the water; it is not clear which helps eye to go back to the land and explore buildings. Thank you Laura, Irina (www.IrinaSztukowski.com)

yes, Laura I used to live up that way, and I remember down the "shore' little cottages, quaint places. Just like here in Florida 40 years ago . when I first moved here ..and now same thing has happened, condos replacing all those places. Such a loss of its character, at least thats my feeling ... guess I don't do well with progress.

my first visit to your blog. the soft colours are deftly handled in all your watercolours. I am happy that I dropped by and have just added my name to your followers list.

It's always sad when old, characterful buildings are torn down for high rise condos. It changes the feel of a place. We are lucky we can record, with our art, what used to be for posterity. Your buildings are good. Reminds me that I need to practice drawing buildings.
