charles reid dvd

(5x7 hot press)
Last night I watched the first disk of Charles Reid's new DVD, which I read about on Rhonda's blog, and couldn't resist painting along.
It amazes me how right after I watch a demo I can implement certain ideas from the demo, but then, later, I just revert back to what I always do!
These are from Reid's lessons on local color, greens, and edges.

You and Rhonda are working hard! I think its just as well you go back to what you do, as it's done so well - I'm sure some of the tips and lessons stick to show up somewhere, and after all, we don't want 100s of Charles Reids - we do want one Laura!! :)

Laura, you already paint so loose, you can do this so much better than I!!! But I'll keep trying. Let me know what you think of his DVD and all the lessons :) I agree with Cathy, don't become CR, just stay Laura :)

All beautiful paintings, Laura! I particularly love the second photo here, the colors, the set-up, even the swatches. Just beautiful!

I also bought that CD, Laura, and haven't had any time to really put it into practice, but I think it's a wonderful video, don't you? I can SO relate to what you said about immediately going back to the "same old, same old" unless I use a video and practice immediately. Your results here are beautiful! I think Cathy's right, though--I'm glad there's a Laura out there.

I just bought one of his books but am thinking now I should have bought the DVD. The book hasn't arrived yet. I like his loose style. Your paintings always look good.
