... and again

(6x8)
From being afraid to tackle this subject I've gone to thinking it's the best subject ever: it showcases my favorite complements and can be doen over and over with no drawing and no reference ... Although, if I want to get more realistic about I'll have to study some water surfaces to get effects that show both the reflected surface and the depths below.
But for right now, I'm just enjoying playing around.
Below are the two stages at which I stopped before proceeding to the finish, above.

That's so clever and your step-by-steps make it look simple. I'm sure it's not. Beautiful work. x

L,

so glad to see you are posting again! Maybe I'll try the goldfish thing. Re: water effects, take a look at David dewey's chapter on that topic. I seem to remember you saying that you have his book. I think his instructions on water are very helpful.

Looks great, Laura! Your watercolors are always so loose & fresh. I've had two workshops with David Daniels. He does wonderful pond and fish paintings.

Gosh but those rocks add so much to these paintings. Love them all, Laura!

This is a riot--you are on a roll, Laura! I really love these. I think water is very difficult to paint--you're doing a great job, and keeping it all loose and beautiful at the same time.
