(5x7)This is a scene from one the more beautiful places we visited in the British Virgin Islands: funky and fabulous Trellis Bay. A great place to shop, eat (chicken rotis and Caribe beer!), and lay around in hammocks.
I did this in 20 minutes, from a photo, and discovered a new use for the 20-minute challenge: as a way to approach a subject that intimidates you. With the mindset that I'm only (!) spending 20 minutes, I think I plunge in a little more recklessly, or less timidly anyway.
Now I've at least approached the subject and so I hope diminshed my fear of it ... and if I'm lucky maybe I'll even find something here to carryover into a more developed painting.
Katharine Cartwright of Twenty Minute Challenge is going to be taking a break from administering the site. First, I have to commend Katharine and everyone else who has administered a site that people can contribute to. What a task--I have no idea how it's done, but I know it must be time-consuming. Katharine and others have provided a real service ... and a lot of fun and opportunities to learn and meet other painters. Thank you, Katharine!

Laura, these 20 minute paintings suit you to a T, this is fresh and gorgeous and captures such a carefree, fun holiday spirit that I can't imagine you'd get with a more developed painting. I love it and wish I was there!

great idea on the how to attack a painting with ease and no time to worry.. yes the tmc has been fun .. hope it can be kept up at least in our own homes..

I love the painting, too, and I think you are right, approaching a subject with a time constraint gives us a freedom from perfectionism and fear. Why don't we do it more often. I'm sorry to hear that TMC will be discontinued, I just discovered it.
You asked about my yellows, Auroelin, Lemon, Cadmium and Quin gold are my current favorites.
