freehand lilies

(7x11)

I shouldn't take a break from work today--too much to do!--but I bought these lilies a few days ago at the supermarket: I cannot resist orange lilies, I hope I never can.
I painted this freehand, without drawing, and trying to keep the yellow-orange-red paints moving without worrying about overlapping shapes being "unreadable."

Laura,
I missed commenting on your last couple of posts....
This painting is beautiful! I love the colours, freshness and looseness.

Oh, wow--they are just stunning, Laura. And you just laid the paint right down? Fabulous results. I love these colors--I'm a big fan of the orange lilies, but I think I like your painting of them even more.

These are beautiful Laura. Sometimes just plunging in brings the best results.

Your shapes are very readable, lovely and spontaneous. I love the combination of yellow-orange and blue-green, it's so fresh and exuberant!

The fluidity and light in the lilies and in the still-life is wonderful - watercolour at its best, I think!
