Laura, I don't paint, draw, etc., but I used to try. I love your blog and seeing your work inspires and encourages. I hope that one day I will pick up a pad and attempt to capture something on paper. In the meantime I will continue to enjoy your posts and beautiful work.

Laura, your watercolors are luscious...deceptively simple but with amazing compositions. I just ran across your post on my orchids and thanks for the kind words. I look forward to visiting again and seeing more of your fine work.

The revision is just beautiful Laura - I know I keep saying that, but really! I still like the space above the pets, but the shadows, and the light on the new one is stunning.

I see you have been busy with your work, that's great.

I like both versions very much.

And I liked seeing you set up the still lifes. I've tried doing that for photos too, and I agree, the setup is the hard part.

Hi Laura,
The new painting reminds me of Lucy Willis' work...are you familiar with her? Love the light on the black kitty and the shadows!

It's hard to decide which of these two grab me more. I'm a suck for cats and their images, so perhaps the one with the cat sitting up and the window appealed me more for the positive and negative shapes in that part of the painting. Still, both paintings are fresh and attractive.

Love the light coming through the carrier!

I actually like both of these, and when you said you were going to change that one, I thought--oh, no, I hope she doesn't ruin it, but I love how you handled this! I really like the way the cat is almost silhouetted here, too, on top of the box carrier.

ps
How appropriate--the letters for me in your word verification today spelled out "prance." ;)))

I can't decide. I kept looking at both of them. I like the window and yellow tones in the first one you did, but the colors and composition in the second one are nice, too. Oh, just send them both to me! (Thanks for your comment today, Laura. I actually got weepy reading what people wrote.)

Laura, I think the revised one is stronger, it puts more emphasis on Smilla and Itchy and the light and shadows are great. Thanks for visiting my site, too, and for the comments.

Laura, electric watercolors. It just so happens that I love cats and these paintings are wonderful.
Oh..and the names are great.

I liked the first one a lot, and I love this one even more. The light and colors and the way the animals and carrier are inhabiting the space is just wonderful! I agree with Annelein, this reminds me of Lucy Willis (whose book "Light - How to see it, how to paint it" turned me on to watercolor 20 years ago. How time flies...)
