(11x5)

I wasn't going to say anything and just enjoy the joy (I'm not ready to let go of my animosity entirely, maybe tomorrow) but leave it to a Bush appointee to screw it up. Chief Justice Roberts bobbled the words of the oath and then read the last line--"So help me God"--as a question rather than as a statement. Can't help but feel, resentfully, that there's some subtext there.

And check out this inaugural "Wordle," brought to my attention by my bff Robin!

Oh! I didn't think of that. Interesting.

Wow. This feels good. Did you breathe a huge sigh when Biden was sworn in?

I cried and cried, Ruth, and painted this through my tears (I'd drawn it last night, luckily!).
Those Bushies are so snarky. When Barack Obama came out onto the platform, about to take on such an incredible burden, he looked so centered, and so humble.
What a contrast!

I loved every second of it, and the bobble by Roberts was practically the icing on the cake of 8 years of incompetency. What a great image to capture on this wonderful day!

I was blown away by the speech. Am I just a 'victim' of the gush??

When he said what he said about 60 years ago maybe he wouldn't have been served a drink in this city, that summed up the speech for me. Completely down to earth and grounded, with lofty lofty hopes. I am actually stunned with how I feel, which is a little overwhelmed with the change I feel.

I am out of mind with joy. I can hardly believe the last looong eight years are over. Obama's speech was wonderful. Let FREEDOM ring.

For me, even a Chief Justice of the United States who couldn't remember the words (and pauses for responses) of a fundamentally short and simple oath couldn't spoil the basic JOY of the moment. (Even Rehnquist managed to swear in Clinton twice!)

Gotta relate a friend's comment about the reports that Bush was in the Oval Office very early this a.m. and what he might've been doing: "Changing the locks!"

It IS a beautiful image--yours and OURS!

Wouldn't you love to see the letter Bush left for Barack? Full of misspellings and inanities I'd wager.

Oh, don't worry--nothing could "spoil" it! Just an irritation, and a confirmation of what jerks "they" can be! ;-)

Obama is already inspiring you to do good things, Laura!

I started to get emotional when Aretha began singing.

I have to admit, I wondered if Roberts flubbed it on purpose. Eight years of Bush has made me paranoid I guess. But, really, there's no way I'm letting anything spoil this STELLAR day...

A great day for celebrating and a lovely Capital painting. Your colors always sing.

We over here rejoice with you - what an inspirational speech (hope some of the dictators in Africa were watching and taking notes)

the tweaked bridge looks a lot better. Amazing what a bit of work will do.

-"So help me God"--as a question rather than as a statement.

I'm glad I'm not the only who noticed that :/

Beautiful! Your work here must have really come from the heart then--it shows. Lovely! It was a glorious day.

What great sketches. I too sat glued to the TV and just took it all in. I think once he took the oath (despite the CJ blubs) I felt a calmness over me. Everything is going to be alright now.
