pink still life

(22x30)

I've had this full sheet drawing for more than a year, always alternating between wanting to finish it and wanting to abandon it. (My February 16 post shows it in it's previous state of undoneness.) After a year, I feel uncommitted whan I approach it, but maybe it's good to have on hand to poke away at a little when I'm uncertain what else to do!

Thanks for commenting, Liesl. I did visit your blog, and I look forward to seeing more. I think you'll enjoy checking out some of the blogs I recommend here, and those bloggers have their own great recommendations on their blogs! It's pretty amazing.

Thanks, Suzanne. I've been enjoying your recent green-centric posts too. The antidote to pinkness?

Even unfinished it's beautiful. I always like seeing the pencil sketch lines.

I agree with Ruth.. i love the state it is in, right now... it is rather like a dream and keeps us wondering... its great when it's not all told!!

I agree with Ruth too! What would be ideal is to get to just the right point to stop ... and stop! ;-)
Right now I think there's still too much unpainted area, but, as I move outward from the already painted area, I'd like to taper off the "doneness," if that makes sense. There's a balance, or maybe a tension, that has to be right for it to work. It's something to try for though!!

Exactly, Laura... I think the MOST difficult part of painting is knowing when we are done!!!

Yes, knowing when it's done is one of the hardest things... I like this very much at its present stage, but I'm also curious to see what you will do next, Laura. I'd say keep it on standby :) I admire your patience, by the way, I would never be able to keep a painting "in progress" that long..

Thanks, Mineke. But I have to admit it's not patience so much as doggedness. I like "standby"--sounds more immanent than "on hold"!
