forsythia

(8x12)
I felt lazy posting just photos today, so I snipped a little forsythia to paint. Forsythia was always the first thing to bloom in our yard when I was a kid, and now that first touch of color is so brilliant against all the muted tones of winter.

I'm jealous - your spring is further along. This rendering is beautiful. I'll just have to be patient.

I love this! The forsythia petals are beautifully painted, and I love the subtle blending of colors from yellow to green to brown.

Thank you all. I do love forsythias, the delicate, simple flowers on a bare stem. (Tried pansies today--without much luck; I'll post them tomorrow.) My magnolia is about to flower too! That's an occasion for me! It's always a bit warmer than inland; the Gulf Stream forcing spring.
