(5x7)

Casting about for a subject yesterday ... didn't have any fresh flowers handy, so I settled on another snowscene from Pa.

(5x10)
Then started a smaller version of the orchids on hot press paper. I like the whites in this one; may add some shadow shapes in the background and in the centers of the flowers.
More workmen arrived last night to begin another phase of improvements to this old house. I dread the disruption but try to look forward to the end result, which I hope will be in the not-too-distant future. All this to say: I may not be able to manage daily posts for a week or two! But I will try to keep painting or perhaps do some drawing; I haven't done enough drawing for its own sake.

Lovely on both counts. Love the quality of light in the winter scene! The orchids are wonderful, too, so loose and juicy, and full of beautiful abstract shapes.

Love the orchids, well - love both pix. I hear you on the drawing front. A basic skill we don't practice enough. I think that's why I'm doing a little immersion in sumi-e. I probably need to sketch more. Best wishes on your construction. Mineke's link is working and I've posted my own link to her.
