More Cezanne and me. The top is a pretty heavyhanded copy of Cezanne's 1890 Large Pine, Study. Looking through my photos of winter trees, I found one that was sufficiently similar, and the bottom one is my attempted emulation. I like applying the paint in little stabs rather than washes; it's a good hedge against overmixing.

It's wonderful to see how you are using the example of Cezanne to develop your own work. Your copies are lovely, but your own studies "a la Cezanne" sparkle beyond what any copy could achieve. This is really inspiring to watch :)

Thank you both ... It's surprisingly fun to make a little copy and instructive to do one of my own immediately after ... it's like my hand knows how to move the brush.

Beautifully done and very Cezanne like. I'm so glad that you're at this daily now.
